Meet Jean

I was raised in Paterson, NJ by two life-long residents of our great Garden State, and settled in Tewksbury in 1988 to raise my family with my husband Gregg.

I instantly fell in love with Tewksbury, a gorgeous hamlet that embraced rural living, a peaceful cohabitation with nature, and a love of animals.

But it was the passion of this community that has kept me rooted here for more than three decades and dedicated to rolling up my sleeves to help out where support was needed.

As a civic servant of Tewksbury for the last 35 years, I plan to continue to strive to maintain the integrity of this town and all the people in it.

A Proven Leader and Collaborator

Current Mayor of Tewksbury + Committee Member

As the current Mayor of Tewksbury, I have helped to lead the Township Committee and Town boards to maintain our open spaces, support the services of our Fire Company, Rescue Squad, and library, and optimize our government operations. During my tenure on the Township Committee, I focused on developing strong local leadership by initiating a Personnel Subcommittee in 2021 to improve the retention and management of our administrative team.

Safety remains a priority for our residents, and I’m working with the Committee to continue to explore cellular connectivity solutions for the Township.

This year, I orchestrated a program to honor our Veterans, something that is personally dear as my Father was a WWII veteran and many of my family members have served or are currently in service.

Our program includes a flag display for Veterans Day later this year and dedicated parking spaces for Veterans at the Mountainville Municipal lot and the Township Administration offices.

Striving for Excellence in Education

As a previous member and President of the Tewksbury Board of Education, I employed my collaborative skills to negotiate 3 teachers contracts and led the community to the passage of a new school referendum to build the new Tewksbury Elementary School in 2000.

My passion for giving the future of Tewksbury the best enrichment at school, led to founding the Tewksbury Education Foundation, which recently celebrated its 27th anniversary. The Foundation supports enrichment experiences for our students to augment their education and help them explore and create.

Experience

Tewksbury Township Committee
Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Committee Member
2020 - PRESENT

Over the past three years, I have been an active member of the Tewksbury Township Committee, dedicated to serving the citizens of Tewksbury. During this time, I have held the positions of Deputy Mayor and currently serve as the Mayor.

During my tenure, I initiated the formation of the Personnel subcommittee, and served this township as a member of the Public Safety committee, Community Outreach committee and the Finance subcommittee.

Tewksbury Education Foundation
Founder, Board Member
1996 - PRESENT

I founded the TEF in 1996 to support our district K – 8 schools. The organization raises private monies to be used for academic enhancements and to expand learning programs that are not able to be funded in our regular school budget. I’m happy to say that this year we are celebrating 27 successful years! Working closely with current school parents, and coordinating TEF program efforts within our district, has kept me aware and up to date on all the current activity, the challenges, and changes to curriculum occurring in our school district.

Tewksbury Land Use Board
Board member
2017 - 2020

I served on the Tewksbury Land Use Board after being appointed in January 2017. As a member of the board, I reviewed and evaluated various land use applications. The process gave me an in-depth understanding of regulatory measures that must be continually maintained by the township. Very careful and diligent oversight is necessary to protect our town’s environment and natural resources.

Tewksbury Board of Education
Board Member
1995-2007

I served on the Tewksbury Board of Education from 1995 to 2007 and served as President of the Board for four years. As a member of multiple academic committees, I worked with our teachers to negotiate critical contract terms and led a successful campaign to pass the school referendum that built Tewksbury Elementary School. As a member of the BOE, my responsibilities included working together with our local government to achieve our new school site and overseeing construction details, teacher contract negotiations, academic committee teamwork, and budget preparation.

Women’s Club of Tewksbury Township
Treasurer, Member
1989 - PRESENT

I have been an active member of WCTT since 1989, and for many years have chaired the Education and Scholarship Committee. Currently, I serve as Treasurer of the Club, after being elected to my second consecutive two-year term. As Treasurer, I am responsible for managing all funds collected and disbursed by the Club, Federal and State tax filings, and serve on the committee that creates the Club’s Charitable and Operating budgets.
